The World Association of Community Radio Broadcasters (AMARC) has posted two news items.

The first item welcomes two new members to the AMARC team: Valérie Fournier-L’Heureux, Secretary General Assistant, and Marcia Cornejo Figallo, Accountant.

From the Press Release:

“Mrs. Fournier-L’Heureux will deal with the general administration of the office, will fulfill the tasks of secretariat, will carry out the update of the website, will be responsible for the communications with the members of the AMARC and will support financial, projects and logistics management.”

“Mrs. Cornejo Figallo is in charge of the general accounting, data’s verification, preparation of budgetary reports and follow-up. She will help the preparation of reports to financial backers and will assist to the preparation of the annual verification of the AMARC’s International Secretariat.”

The second item is an announcement that AMARC has been granted observer status at the UN for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

From the Press Release:

“The participation of AMARC as an NGO will begin at COP 17 in Durban, South Africa, at the end of this year, as well as at the Rio+20 in Brazil, in June 2012, where it can demonstrate the important role of community radio in the prevention, support and as an educator during natural disasters and in the context of climate change.”
